Vaccination

Are you concerned about catching the flu? Perhaps you are worried about having time off work, or maybe you want to ensure you do not pass it on to more vulnerable members of your family. Whatever the reason, having a vaccination against seasonal flu can give you protection and peace of mind.

Stay healthy and protect your friends, family and work colleagues by getting vaccinated. Last year community pharmacies administered over 1 million flu jabs in the UK.

If you are an employer, you may take our Flu Vaccine service to protect your employees throughout Autumn/Winter. If your results show your blood pressure is higher or lower than the average, in that case we can provide instant advice and a guidance on the next steps you need to take.

Emergency contraception

Emergency contraceptive pill advice is free to patients at our pharmacy.

If you are worried that the contraception you used might have failed, or if you have had sex without using contraception, you may want to use emergency contraception as a precautionary measure to avoid pregnancy. It is recommended that the emergency contraception needs to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. Our pharmacy has spacious consultation rooms so you can be assured that any discussion with your pharmacist remains private.

Our pharmacist will need to see the person that the emergency contraception is intended for and the pharmacist will need to ask a few questions regarding medical history in our private consultation room.

The emergency contraceptive pill can cause nausea, dizziness or fatigue, or give you a headache, tender breasts or abdominal pain. Taking this pill can cause your period to be earlier or later than expected.

If we cannot help you, then we will make sure we refer you to someone who can help.

Medicines Use Review

The Medicines Use Review is a free NHS service offered by all accredited pharmacists in the UK. They can take place annually or at regular interval. The consultation will take place in our pharmacy’s private consultation room.

The consultation is to:
  • Improve the effectiveness of your medicines.
  • Identify if you can take fewer medicines than before.
  • Help you know more about the medicines you take
  • Identify any problems you may be having with your medicines

Remember you can ask our pharmacist questions at any time, but a review will give you and us both more time to concentrate on your health and your medicines.

Each year enormous quantities of unused and expired medications are dumped into bins or flushed into toilets and sinks. Unused prescription medicines cost NHS over £300 million every year. Remember, even if you do not open the medicines, once medicines have left the Pharmacy, they cannot be recycled or used by anyone else. Therefore, before re-ordering let your GP or Pharmacist know if you’ve stopped taking any of your medicines and the medicines you still have at home.

Remember that your medicines are prescribed only for you; it’s not safe to share them with anyone else.
